Book Review for Start Me Up by J. Kenner

4 - April - Start Me Up
Wicked days. Sinful nights.
Meet Mr. April.
A high school drop-out with only his twisted sense of humor and panty-melting good looks going for him, Nolan Wood has turned a small radio gig into a thriving career.
Now a local celebrity, Nolan never wants for female companionship. But he never gets too close. And he damn sure never lets them see the man—or the pain—behind the jokes.
Then a one-night stand changes everything.
Career-focused, goal-oriented, and buttoned-down accountant Shelby Drake isn’t the kind of woman who’d usually catch Nolan’s attention, but her soft mouth, hidden curves, and deep sensuality blow his mind. And after only one taste, he wants more.
But Shelby wants nothing more to do with him. And now the radio playboy is on a sensual mission to convince her that opposites really do attract.
Her pleasure is his passion.
**Start Me Up is part of a binge read series by New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Publishers Weekly, and #1 International bestselling author of the million copy Stark series, J. Kenner.
Each novel in the series is a STANDALONE romance with a guaranteed HEA!

I don't know how J. Kenner keeps making her men in the Man of The Month series more desirable and interesting. In Start Me Up given a man who is a local celebrity talk show shock jock. Nothing is off limits when it comes to Nolan Wood, not even his personal life. Nolan can have any lady he wants, most women will throw themselves at him. He doesn't do relationships or takes anything to serious, I have to admit that I found Wood to be totally swoon-worthy.

Shelby Drake is a character that I find myself falling for, the intelligent and sexy heroine that is not flamboyant. It takes meeting a man at a bachelorette party and a one night stand to bring out the inner sexy vixen that was hiding inside of her. Nolan Wood meets none of the standards she has set for herself, so she questions if a future with him would even be possible. Her plans of marrying the man her mom set her up with and becoming a partner at her firm has been raveled, now that she knows how a man should make a woman feel.  Shelby has to decide if falling in love will be worth having her life thrown out there on the radio for everyone to listen to.

I was captured by the opposites attract storyline, the connection between Nolan and Shelby is passionate and the obstacles that hold them back to accept love is heartfelt. I held back the tears that wanted to run down my cheeks with this one. I don't know how this bar The Fix is going to be filled with all of these sexy men and the women that they love, because each story keeps getting better.  Bring On May...I'm so ready for Tyree's story.
