Summer’s Lease an all-new romance by Carrie Elks is LIVE!
Cesca Shakespeare has hit rock bottom. Six years after the play she wrote bombed at the box office, she's unable to hold down a job, keep an apartment, and worst of all her family have no idea how far she's fallen. So when her fairy Godfather offers her the use of his friend's Italian villa for the summer, she grudgingly agrees to try writing a new play. That's before she finds out the house belongs to her arch-nemesis, Sam Carlton.
When Hollywood heart-throb Sam Carlton sees his name splashed across a gossip rag, all he wants to do is hide. That's how he finds himself traveling to Italy, deciding to spend the summer in his family's empty villa on Lake Como. Except when he arrives it isn't as empty as he'd hoped.
Over the course of the hot Italian summer, Cesca and Sam have to come to terms with their pasts. What begins as a tentative friendship quickly grows into an intense attraction - and then a scorching fling. But they can't hide from reality forever . . . as their different worlds collide, Sam and Cesca face a choice: is this just a summer romance, or could their love weather even the coldest winds?

Summer's Lease is my first read by Carrie Elks, I found it to be a really good summer story. The plot is what drew me in- a play writer with writer's block and a famous actor needing an escape end up in his family's villa in Italy. They have a past that would list this story under enemies to lovers.
Sam Carlton is the famous actor that needs to escape Hollywood life, he finds himself all over the tabloids and he is not happy about it. He doesn't know who to trust, so he decides to hideout at his family's Villa in Italy. He never expected to find a woman from his past who hates him and blames him for her life spiraling downhill since she was eighteen years old, house-sitting for his parents. This will bring on the sexual tension he didn't need. Sam's story of not trusting others will tug at your heart.
Cesca Shakespeare's dreams were shattered when her play that she poured her heart and soul into at the age of eighteen had failed and she blames it on the star that walked away. Her life from then on was job after job, she could never find her footing and she finally hits rock bottom. Cesca accepts an offer to look after a villa in Italy, hoping to get past her writers block. The last thing Cesca ever expected to happen was share space with Sam Carlton the actor that destroyed her dreams. Will she be able to get past the hate she has for him?
Summer's Lease had a slow start for me, I blame that on not being a big fan of stories told in a narrative point of view. The characters had already grabbed me so there was no way that I was putting this story down, it just took me longer to read. I enjoyed the sexy banter, flirting, the possessive dominate male and quirky Cesca. Carrie Elks did a great job with keeping me interested in the story-line and I could easy picture the scenes which made this story feel so romantical (romantic and magical). Once Sam and Cesca allow themselves to drop their guards down and submit to what their bodies want, it's beautiful and heartfelt. This is a refreshing contemporary romance of two people that find out falling in love maybe more of a challenge than they expected.
