If You Were Mine
by Melanie Harlow
Genre: Contemporary Romance
I can't say in good conscious that If You Were Mine is the best Harlow read, because every book I have read from Melanie Harlow is the best read... EVER. I have not been disappointed and continuing these characters from Man Candy and After We Fall in If You Were Mine made for a very romantic and heartfelt read. I loved how it also highlights the importance of having great friends and family. I loved every moment and add wine into the story and I am one happy reader!!!
Claire French is tired of sitting at the singles table at weddings, she wants to step out of her comfort level and hire a date for her co-workers wedding. Even though Claire's insecurities seem to dictate her life, I found myself girl crushing on her. She is not only beautiful, she is dependable, loving, independent and forgiving. Renting a tall, dark and handsome man for the night may not be the biggest mistake Claire has made, it might be letting her guard down.
Theo MacLeod, seems to not stay in one place and he takes on jobs to help out his brother's family. His past keeps him avoiding anything that resembles stability and falling in love will have him running away. He's hired for the night as a rent a date, but Theo has an agreement contract which keeps the dates simple and fun. He never expected his wedding date with a art teacher to turn out the way that it did, he couldn't seem to resist her. Breaking all his rules may have turned his life upside down.
If You Were Mine gave me all the feels I enjoy in a falling in love story, it had it's heartfelt moments. It is a perfectly written story of forgiveness, finding yourself and believing you deserve more than what your past has set out for you. This story had me falling for Claire, she is a strong character that realizes what she deserves in life. I have to say this is a 5 Star smile on your face read. I LOVED IT...I LOVED IT...I LOVED IT!!!
