If growing up in her home wasn’t enough to shatter Madelyn Stone’s illusions of happily ever after, then serving several years behind bars certainly was. Her crime? Believing in family and growing up on the wrong side of the tracks. She’s learned the hard way that there is no such thing as a prince who’ll ride in and save the day, and she pledges never to trust anyone again. Never.
Between a career in the Marines and plans to marry his childhood sweetheart, Holten Andrews had his future all mapped out…until life took an unexpected, heart-ripping turn. Now he’s moved on with a new career in law, as well as vowing to confine women to one of three categories: family, professional, and f*ckable. No blurring the lines. Ever.
Love is the last thing on Maddy’s mind as she attempts to forge a new path out of the wreckage of her life. Holt’s sense of loyalty is rocked when he’s blindsided by feelings for a woman he would normally condemn. When revelations from Maddy’s past threaten her safety, Maddy has to put her faith in Holt, while Holt fights not to lose the one woman who’s blurred all of his lines. Every choice they make will figure into whether or not they can make yesterday’s dreams still come true tomorrow.
Holt was not only tasting me, he was consuming me, and I was lost in the pleasure of it.
I 've desired other woman, but you ...I don't just want you I crave you. I need you.
“You’ve had quite a story so far, Maddy. A tragedy, an adventure, and a love story all woven together. Now you deserve your fairytale ending.”
Yesterday's Tomorrows is my first story by M.E. Montgomery and I am having a hard time writing this review. I know that I will never truly be able to put into words the emotions that went through me while I was reading. I really hope I do my best and write this story with my heart because that is where I was most touched.
In Yesterday's Tomorrows we have Maddy Stone who from the beginning has been dealt a heavy hand in life. From a young age Maddy feels that she has to prove her life is worth something. With trying to be the best student, daughter and sister, she finds herself believing in the wrong people and ends up serving six years behind bars. Now that she is released; Maddy is skeptical, untrusting, and has a way of running to conclusions. How will she be able to handle life on her own? Will she be able to let anyone near her heart and chip away the hurt and pain of her past?
Holten (Holt) Andrews I inhale a deep breathe when I think of him, Holt had his future planned out. Marry his high school sweetheart, join the Marines and have that forever with the love of his life. It seems life had other plans in mind for him, with a dark cloud looming over him and his shredded heart Holt changes careers and is now a lawyer living life day to day. His view on women is that he is either related to them, works with them or just has a one night stand and that is all. He is staying strong to how he has categorized these women and nothing will change his mind. That is until he is asked to do a favor for and pick up Madelyn Stone on the day she is released. His life will never be the same from that moment on.
The coming together of Maddy and Holt is one of pure frustration along with some other emotions that will take time to develop. During that time, M. E. Montgomery puts the reader through a journey of two lives trying to get past their hurt and the problems that got them o where they are now. I found Yesterday's Tomorrows more that just a suspense romance. It is a story of a family's love, letting go of the past, believing in yourself and giving yourself that second chance at love and the second chance at living the life you believe you deserve.
Honestly, I was a total mess with this story. The love that the Andrews family has is strong and clearly felt by me. The passion between Holt and Maddy does not happen til more than halfway through the story but it was felt long before then. The longing for each other was just so perfectly written that when it happens, I felt the sparks. I am so in love with these characters and I hope you take the time to experience the suspense of knowing someone is after Maddy, the fear of losing the one you love, and the power of having those that love you surround you at your time of need. I know that I have to stop before I say to much but this is one story that I could not stop thinking about and it's one that I hope everyone gets a chance to read.
I was given a ARC for a honest review, there were some editing issues but you all should know how I feel about that. I am a woman who writes like I talk and the last person who should judge on that. I still feel that this story is a 5 star read.
She is the homework queen to her four school aged children who think she is a genius in math, science, history and spelling. Fortunately, her biology and elementary school teaching background help her to keep up the expert façade, at least for now.
Although born and raised in the Washington DC metro area, she has considered many places to be called home since she left to attend college in North Carolina. She is a proud Navy wife, setting up a home wherever the Navy sends her husband. When she’s not reading or writing, she loves to go camping with her family, drink wine on the deck, and be swept off to romantic getaways.
