Pucked Upby Helena Hunting
Miller “Buck” Butterson has been banging his way through life ever since a puck to the face fixed his messed up front teeth, and he was drafted into the NHL during his first year of college. After five years of deflecting goals on the ice and scoring them with puck bunnies across the Continental US and parts of Canada, Miller is ready for a girlfriend. A real girlfriend of the non-bunny variety. One he takes on dates and doesn’t jump into bed with after five seconds of conversation.
Miller thinks he’s found that woman in his teammate’s sister. Except, unlike Alex Waters, center, team captain and all round nice guy—who happens to be dating his step-sister—Miller’s manwhore reputation is well earned, and not blown out of proportion by the media. Beyond that minor detail, Miller doesn’t know the first thing about having a girlfriend. But he’s determined to make it happen.
What he doesn’t take into account is the amount of time and effort relationships require, or that constantly letting bunnies take selfies with him to post all over social media isn’t going to win him any points in the boyfriend department. Miller learns—not so quickly—that if he wants to make Sunshine “Sunny” Waters fall for him, he going to have to do a whole lot more than show her his stick skills in the bedroom.
My Favorite Quotes:
I'm not known for being the kind of guy who sticks with one girl. It still sucks that no one believes I can manage an actual relationship.
It's not like motherpucking Donkey Kong now. " Pfft. It'll happen, baby."
Relationships aren't a game. No one wants to get screwed around,
except maybe people who like a lot of drama and want to end up on
those terrible reality dating shows."
There are no refunds and no exchanges with love. It comes with
flaws and imperfections. It's raw, unfiltered, and sometimes it isn't
easy. But I've found the best things are the ones I've had to work the hardest for.
Helena Hunter has done it again with Pucked Up, it's just as funny as Pucked the story of Violet and Alex.
In Pucked Up, Miller (Buck) who is violet's step brother falls for Sunny, sister to Alex Waters who also is Violet's fiance and Miller's teammate.
It seems like nothing can turn out right for Miller, who feels he is ready for a serious relationship. His past of being a manwhore keeps slapping him in the face with having pictures taken of him with bunnies or awkward situations posted on social media for Sunny to see. With Miller trying anything he can to prove that he could be boyfriend material even making sure Sunny and his sexcapades are memorable, which also leads to many first in the sex department for Sunny. Will all the sex and his words of commitment be enough for Sunny?
I love the relationship of Miller and Sunny but for some reason the relationship between Miller and his sister Violet captivates me the most. Miller finds himself needing Vi's opinion, which always ends up with a lot of unfiltered humorous banter between the two. I loved when it came down to it, you could really feel that Violet and Miller really care about each other and have a strong brother and sister bond.
Yes, Pucked Up has a lot of sexual references and dirty locker room humor, but it truly made for a very entertaining read. I loved it and if I need a good laugh, I will be reading it again.
