Book Review - Ravished

Ravished (The Teplo Trilogy Book 1)

by: Ayden K. Morgen

When Tristan Riley drags Lillian Maddox onto the dance floor at Teplo, he intends only to protect his cover… at least that's what he tells himself. But the lovely Lillian would tempt a saint, and Tristan is far from a gentleman. Beneath the bright lights of the Vetrov family's dangerous club, the weary DEA agent finds himself captivated by the ballerina, coaxing them both into a reckless, erotic encounter.

But Tristan isn't prepared for the intense connection between him and Lillian, or for the fallout of their tryst. In a matter of days, their lives careen wildly off course, catapulting them both into a deadly game of hide and seek with the Vetrov family and one of Mexico's deadliest drug cartels.

Trying to keep his hands to himself while working alongside Lillian to stop Anton Vetrov's deadly new drug proves almost impossible for Tristan, but what choice does he have when being with her might get her killed? He should know: his entire family was murdered by people just like Anton.

When the stakes are raised and innocent lives are lost, will Tristan be able to let go of the guilt, or will he destroy his chance at happiness with Lillian before it ever truly begins?

RAVISHED is intended for readers aged 18 and over.

My Review:

I was given Ravished to prepare me for a ARC of it's second book Rhapsody, since I review every book I read, I thought it only fair to write about this book.
It is a good storyline,  undercover DEA agent Tristian Riley is trying to take down the Vetrov family. The family owns a nightclub, drugs and a string of murders have been linked to the family business.
During one of Tristians nightly rounds at the club, he feels he needs a cover and connects with Lillian Maddox and leads her to the dance floor. Which leads to a dance like no other for Lillian, that night is the beginning of all senses for Tristian and Lillian being thrown out the window. Lillian this beautiful ballerina with a past of her own and trust issues dealing with her injury that wiped away all her dreams to ever dance again becomes Tristians weakness and renders his sight on the assignment.
Tristian is this gorgeous DEA agent with a past that affects the way he takes on his missions, he watches as the list of bodies pile up by the drugs sold in the club, that also can be questioned to some murders. This assignment becomes more than he can fathom when the woman he is falling for becomes involved and the Vetrov family seeks interest in one of Mexico's biggest Cartel members.
Like I said, Ravished has a good storyline and great characters but all that is second to the overpowering sexual chemistry that is between Tristian and Lillian, it is a slow drawed out lust for both characters but once that physical sexual attraction has been satisfied, it seems like its never enough. The sexual attraction becomes the forefront of the storyline, it becomes a obsession as if it is the air they need to breathe.
So here is my final say, Do I want to know if Tristian and Lilllian survive the Vetrov family and the Cartel?
Am I interested to find out if Tristian and the DEA agents take down club owners and everyone involved before anyone else is murdered?
Will Lillian ever dance again and after the assignment is completed will Tristian stay and face his fear of relationships?
I guess I have to read Rhapsody to get the answers to all my questions.

Book Review- Yours (A Dark Bad Boy Romance Novel)

Yours (A Dark Bad Boy Romance Novel)

This can’t be happening. Not to me.

It was supposed to be fun. A spring break trip to Tijuana with my friends. A margarita in each hand while we danced the night away.

Then I saw him in the club. He was too perfect to be true—an impeccably tailored suit, a sculpted body. Ice-blue eyes that seared with desire. I thought everything about him was right. But I was dead wrong.

A gun to my head.

A collar around my neck.

A whisper in my ear telling me to follow orders… OR ELSE.

And the strange look in his eyes that tells me there’s a secret he’s still hiding…

Favorite Quote:

Jess," I whispered. " Anything ...anything you want."
The words were soft, so soft that I had to lean forward
to catch them.
" I want... I want to be yours."

My Review:

It always surprises me when I read a book and I don't remember the author. Aubrey Dark surprised me with Yours, I have already read a few of her series and enjoyed them. I have read  His Gift, Mr. Black's Proposal  and His Ransom and I should learn not judge a book by it's cover because  with Yours I would have kept pushing this one aside for a later read. I am so happy that I didn't.
Yours ( A Dark Bad Boy Romance Novel ) kept me on my toes.
Vale, is dark, dangerous, very good looking, and  a undercover FBI agent or a assassin who works with the FBI he is not afraid to get his hands bloody. His next assignment will ask him to reach into the darkest part of himself by having to work beside the man he is sent to kill . Vale is sent to kill a sex slave trafficker El Alfa, who has been very hard to take down. Vale knows that he has to do anything that is asked of him and it could lead to blowing the mission when his feelings for Jessica and her survival become his priority.
Jessica, is talked into putting her studies aside for the weekend and enjoy time in Mexico with her friends. She is beautiful, young, strong, determined and inexperienced when it comes to men. Jessica and her friends become the target of El Alfa, he wants the girls trained and ready to be sold. Jessica is so scared and beyond mad and only wants a way out but Vale knows that to keep her safe he has to find a way for her to submit and trust him.
It was not hard to care for these two characters, even though they are in " Hell" their relationship is dark but passionate and they are determined kill El Alfa and make it out alive.
Yours is a dark, twisted sexual read and recommend for mature readers.

Book Review - Capital Risk ( The Legacy #3 )

Capital Risk (The Legacy #3)

by Lana Grayson

A legacy of revenge…

Dishonored. Avenged. Unbroken.

I never understood my family’s desire for vengeance. The feud between the Atwoods and Bennetts existed for years. I thought we could end it.

I was wrong.

The only way to save my family, my company, and my farm is through blood.

The only way to protect my child is in war.

Darius Bennett will die for the sins he’s committed.

And his sons will forever regret challenging me.

Betrayed. Possessed. Dangerous.

My father taught me that power and family were the most important aspects of our life.

He was wrong. Nothing is more important than vengeance.

The only way to save my family, my company, and the woman I love is by embracing the same ruthlessness that corrupted my father.

The only way to protect the child is by ending this feud and taking what is mine.

I will have Sarah Atwood…not because she belongs to me, but because I cannot exist without her.

Favorite Quotes:

If it even mattered. She was an Atwood. She
probably found a way to destroy us all in her own twisted revenge.

" I loved Nicholas Bennet- I loved him more than the legacy left by my father and brothers, more than the money and the fame of our families."

My Review:

I don't even know how to begin, I was just so happy to finally read the conclusion of Nicholas Bennet and Sarah Atwood. Lana Grayson did not disappoint with Capital Risk.
If you read Takeover and Controlling Interest you will understand how Capital Risk had to be played out. This story is so much about Sarah's need for vengeance to the one man that destroyed her life and her dysfunctional feelings for her step brothers that she loved and hated. While reading I also had to question my feelings for the Bennet brothers, after everything they had put their step sister through. They abused her, humiliated her and had to take turns so they can impregnate her, to satisfy their sick twisted father's need for greed. It also had to be done to save her and themselves, because their father was always one step ahead of them and he didn't care if he had to kill his own sons to get what he wants.
Capital Risk, is Sarah returning home from hiding and seeking revenge on her own terms and doing everything she can to protect her unborn baby, that will be worth more than the Bennets and Atwoods put together (if it is a son ). Sarah is scared, confused and determined and the only people she can turn to our her step brothers.
Nicholas, has gone crazy looking for Sarah for 2 months. He has come to the realization that he will lose everything to gain Sarah's love and trust, which includes his famliy's company and plotting the demise of his father. His love for Sarah is so passionate that it sends shivers to the tips of your fingers.
Nicholas, Max and Reed will do anything to protect her and seek vengeance on their father, but they also need forgiveness for everything that they put Sarah through.
Darius Bennet is one sick, twisted, greedy, perversion of a man, my stomach turned at the mention of this name.
There are secrets that still need to be revealed which could destroy the love and family that  Nicholas and Sarah are determined to have. Will she still love and forgive Max and Reed and does she still yearn for their touch? The passion, desire and love is twisted at times but the sexual references are fewer than the last two books. I was very satisfied and crossing my fingers that I hope to read stories of Max and Reed Bennet.

                                                                   About The Author :
9825968Lana Grayson was born to write anything and everything to do with romance. Her favorite genres range from the dark and twisty to the lighthearted and sentimental—as long as the characters are memorable, the story is fun, and the romance is steamy. Lana lives in Pittsburgh with her husband, and, when she isn’t bundled in her writing chair, she’s most likely cheering on the Steelers or searching for the ‘Burgh’s best Italian restaurants.

An erotic adventure romance about the true power of love and passion.

When the world, as we know it, is gone, all we are left with is the passion to survive.

Favorite Quotes:

He stops kissing me and looks deep into my eyes
" Eva, do you understand that you drive me absolutely crazy"

Don't mourn him,Eva.
He'll be joining you before you
notice that's he's not here.But I
can feel him not being here with
me. My body aches from the
agony and I struggle to Breathe.

My Review:

I am going to try my hardest to not ramble on and just write down my emotions during my read of The Passion to Survive.
This story starts off right after the island of Tenerife was hit by a tsunami, Us Marine Corps officer Ethan keeps diving back into the water to look for survivors. During one of his dives he pulls Eva out of the water and his life is not going to be the same.
The characters are written so perfectly by Dana L. Elgrod that I was drawn into the book from the beginning. Eva captivated me as she did every male character in the story, her presence was strong, hypnotic, loving, frustrating and I found myself wanting to protect her. I even found myself yelling at a female character that was trying to take her man. Since she was a little shy, timid and naive in the beginning. This journey that Eva and the other survivors must take will change her and she will find strength that she never thought possible. That journey will make you smile and at times it will send chills, the soon to be family of survivors are so thankful that they have Ethan by their side.
What can I say about Ethan, who I can only describe as close to perfect as possible. He is their savior, guide, protector and he is their anchor. He is so passionately in love with Eva and holds all restraint when it comes to her except for his frustration with her, which can lead to one angry man. When Ethan and Eva finally surrender to their sexual frustrations it is beyond erotic, I don't even think that is the right word to describe their moments (which are few and far between) it is bone- chilling passion that is felt to your core being. The love Ethan and Eva find along their journey is  indescribable because it goes beyond the love they have for one another it spreads to the survivors they pick up along the way.
The Passion to Survive not only gives you one handsome hero it gives you two, on the way they come across Anatoly who is a Russian Marine officer and forms a brotherly bond with Ethan. Anatoly will protect the family that is formed of survivors and especially those "Emerald" eyes of Eva. The love in this story is written so powerful that it had me trembling and bawling. There are so many characters in this book that will leave a place in your heart. I cannot wait for The Passion to Live which comes out Sept. 29th.
* Sometimes, I am offered books to read so I can give a review and the author/ writer always tells me Thank You. With some books which this is one of them, I  feel like saying " No, Dana L. Elgron Thank You for allowing me to read a piece of your soul." *

About the Author:

13818610My name is Dana Levy Elgrod. I am married to Sir James Elgrod...Well, he's not really a sir, but for me, he is. I am the proud mother of Shachar, a smart, gifted little girl of 7 going on seventeen and Jonathan, my fiery, funny little boy of 5, who has the amazing ability to stretch the truth to suit himself.

I am a lecturer in communications at a private university and CEO of a public relations company. I'm addicted to books; at the age of six I entered a library and haven't left since.

The first romance I ever read, and that left the biggest mark, was 'Gone With The Wind'. Whenever I'm having a bad day, I just think of Scarlett O'Hara, and say to myself" After all... tomorrow is another day."

I was raised in a warm and loving family. My parents taught me the power of imagination, to aim as high as I can, and to live life without fear because good things happen to good people. When I met my husband, I realized how amazing it is to live with someone who shows you what love and passion with no boundaries are all about.

I hope and pray that I have succeeded in conveying this message to my readers.

Why did I decide to write The Passion to Survive?

After the Tsunami in Thailand, a plot started forming in my mind. It stayed with me for a few years, but I never thought about developing it any further. Until one evening, my husband told me something that I already knew. He said that if I don't start writing this book, I would always regret it. The next morning, I sat in front of my computer and wrote the first sentence. I erased it and wrote it again, then I changed it and rewrote it, and so it continued for the next twelve hours. The Passion to Survive trilogy was written in one breath. Once I started, I was barely able to stop, and the result is in front of you. I live and breathe my books. Into each one, I have instilled my values, my beliefs, and my love. In each of the characters, there is a little of the people in my life, and there is no doubt in my mind that I am truly blessed!

Book Review - Paper Hearts

Paper Hearts

by Claire Contreras

I lost her.
No, I didn't lose her. I threw her away.
She was my best friend.

I was never supposed to fall in love with her.
I was careless.
She was heartbroken.

I thought I was doing fine. But here she is, years later, forced to work with me, reminding me why I fell in love with her in the first place.
And this time I'm going to do everything in my power to never let her go.

Favorite Quote:

While I'd been busy ignoring this man, and burning his letters, he'd been
watching me, waiting for the right time. But he'd been married.
He'd been married, and I'd been broken.

My Review:

Usually, when I write a review I like to highlight my favorite parts in a book. I was so buried in my read with Paper Hearts that nothing around me could catch my attention. I kept on reading that I forgot to highlight, so I could post under my favorite quotes. (I remembered towards the end)
This is a story about two best friends Jensen and Mia they fall in love ... a love like no other.
Circumstances come between them and Jensen takes a job that will put distance between them, so they decide on a break.
Jensen comes home for a visit and has to give Mia news that will tear her heart apart. Most of this is from the Prequel Torn Hearts that is included.
Paper Hearts is the conclusion of what happens to Mia and Jensen 5 yrs. later.
Mia is so filled with anger that she cannot see straight when she comes face to face with Jensen when he comes home for a friends wedding. From the beginning of the story I could feel their connection.Mia is strong willed, stubborn, and full of hurt . I have to say that a part of me could side with Mia and understand her feelings but a big part of me wanted to slap her and scream..."He Is Right in Front Of You!!!" I don't understand how her friends and family didn't just want to shake and knock some sense into her.
Jensen, is what every woman would want in a man but only has eyes for Mia. She is his whole life and will do whatever it takes to make things right. Jensen will let her go, beg, wear his heart on his sleeve and have his heart broken over and over again just to prove that they are meant to be together.
I am not one for spoilers so all I have to say is, their jobs have a big part in their love, their family and friends are awesome and when they come together in a intimate sexual way it sends goosebumps. This story is about second chance love and all the emotions in between. If you want to find out if Mia can accept the changes in Jensen's life so they can finally be together, you have to read Paper Hearts to find out. You will not be disappointed, if I  actually handed out stars this would be a 5 star book for Clare Contreras.

Book Review- Our Husband

Our Husband

They're three women with one thing in common...Our Husband.

When they found out about his cheating heart, they wanted to get even. But how even?

Fate has just thrown a curveball at the women in Raymond Carmichael's life-- all three of them. When they meet at his hospital bed, they discover they're all married to the same man. And when Raymond suddenly dies, the police suspect that one of these spunky ladies has commited murder...

The Socialite-- Blonde, post-menopausal, and mad as hell, Beatrix always suspected Raymond married her for her daddy's money...twenty-one years ago.

The Doctor-- a smart, small-town family physician, thirty-five-year-old Nathalie had ironically insisted on only one thing from her husband of seven years...absolute honesty.

The Stripper-- Twenty-one and an exotic dancer, Ruby would have chalked up her brief marriage to a learning experience...if she hadn't been pregnant.

Now they're three women left with a man's betrayal-- and worse, each other. But one thing they each insist-- they didn't kill Raymond. What can they do? Something outrageous and probably impossible: stick together to catch a murderer...

Favorite Quote:

Women can be just a vengeful as men,she agreed.
Perhaps more so, when their hearts have been compromised.

My Review:

Our Husband is a very lighthearted read that I enjoyed very much. I found myself crying with one wife more than the other two. Nathalie has a big caring heart and I truly enjoyed her character and the characters that come into her life to help her get through the death of her husband. Beatrix and Ruby are so funny that I found myself laughing out loud when they would come together. Our Husband had a little of everything I wanted in a book: murder, love, mystery, betrayal, sex, humor and friendship. There is not much to say, except it's a must read so you can find out what three women will do to clear their names for the murder of their husband.
