Book Review - Consequences

Consequences

by

Every action has consequences.

Waking in an unfamiliar bedroom in a luxurious mansion, Claire Nichols is terrified to discover that a chance encounter led her into the cruel hands of her abductor, Anthony Rawlings. Claire has no understanding of why she's there, but it's been made abundantly clear--she is now his acquisition and every action has consequences.

Learn the rules to survive.

Facing incomprehensible circumstances, Claire must learn to survive her new reality--every aspect of her livelihood depends upon the tall, dark-eyed tycoon who is a true master of deception. Driven by unknown demons, he has no tolerance for imperfection, in any aspect of his life, including his recent acquisition. Anthony may appear to the world as a handsome, benevolent businessman, but in reality Claire knows firsthand that he's a menacing, controlling captor with very strict rules: do as you're told, public failure is not an option, and appearances are of the utmost importance.

Captivate the captor.

To fit together the pieces of the puzzle, Claire must follow his rules. Will her plan work, or will Anthony become enthralled by Claire's beauty, resilience, and determination, changing the game forever? If that happens, will either of them survive the consequences?

Favorite Lines:

" What I don't want is to ever hurt you like I did. If
you're kept safely away from the world, there's less of a chance
that anything will happen which could cause me to react the way I did"
-Anthony

"I don't want to upset you. I do want the opportunity to upset you"
- Claire

" Tell me what you want. What freedoms have I taken, that you'd like returned"
-Anthony

My Review:

I really wished I would have written my review at 4:00 in the morning, when I finished reading this book. I was tossing and turning in bed and having a hard time trying  to articulate my words.  I did not want this story to end so I found myself purchasing the second book Truth and reading it til I could not keep my eyes open.
I guess I should begin with my emotions reading Consequences, I have never read a book with such anger inside myself. I felt like Claire, I am actually reading a book feeling like I am walking on egg shells. I was so nervous to turn a page because even after every great moment Tony and Claire shared, I waited for that one time Claire or someone around her would mess up and Claire would have to suffer the consequence. Aleatha Romig wrote this book with such conviction, I was able to feel every emotion that she wanted expressed in her writing. The scenes of abuse or passion are not to descriptive but so well written that you understand what happened.

Claire Nichols, grabbed a part of me from the beginning and I wanted so badly to protect her. Claire's punishments will have you crying and begging her to run. I tried to understand her love for Tony and at times I found myself caught up in his charm.

Anthony Rawlings, I hated him with such a passion. How could this gorgeous man be so cruel, controlling and vengeful? How far would he go to get what he wants? His secrets go beyond what you could imagine. A cliffhanger so good your only option is to go straight to the second book.

 I highly recommend...

Book Review: Blue Genes ( The Story of Us Series: Into the Blue )

Blue Genes #1 (The Story of Us Series: Into the Blue)

By Sydney Jamesson

Take the plunge with Beth Parker and be ready to fall headfirst
Into the blue …

“I promise. Wherever you are, Beth, I will always be with you." ~ Ayden

Blue Genes is the continuation of the bestselling trilogy, The Story of Us.
Handsome, media magnate, Ayden Stone came into Beth Parker’s life like a bolt out of the blue, introducing her to an extravagant lifestyle filled with promises, new experiences and sensual pleasures. Possessed by love, they have fulfilled a childhood dream to be man and wife, believing nothing can come between them ‘until death us do part.’
Having been tortured by tragic events involving angels and demons from their past, these star-crossed lovers are ready to start a new chapter in their lives. Now, family comes first.
But which family?
Time is running out! Difficult decisions must be made that will stretch their fated bond to its very limit. Unforeseen enemies are conspiring and about to test the very foundation of their relationship: trust.
Blue Genes is an emotional, adult fairy-tale that transcends the ordinary: a sensual, suspense filled story overflowing with love, laughter and a longing for a happy ever after.
But sometimes, longing just isn’t enough …

                                            My Review

As you might know, if you read my review on The Story Of Us Trilogy. I was a total mess and needed some time to align my emotions. I still wanted to know more about Ayden and Elizabeth. Luckily, Sydney Jamesson continues their story in Blue Genes and does not disappoint. The Love, Passion, Sexiness, and Suspense is magnified between the couple. I just love that the supporting characters are brought out a little more in this one. I always had my eye on Jake, Ayden's best friend he is a slimy one with the ladies but he has a softer side when it comes to Elizabeth and Ayden's relationship. I also enjoyed reading more about Lester, driver and security extraordinaire to the Stones. Sydney Jamesson introduces new characters in this book ( Ayden's birth family). Let's just say that there is one particular person that you will love to hate, she is just all sorts of wrong.
Ayden and Beth's love and insecurities will be tested and I felt every emotion, that is perfectly written.
I have this feeling that Sydney Jamesson sits behind her computer with this devious smile and thinks to herself, " So how can I leave this reader wanting more ?"
I say that because she is so good at it and now I have to " patiently " wait for Blue Hearts.

My Favorite Lines:

" Are we assessing again, Mrs. Stone," he ask, sensing my eyes upon him.
"We are enjoying, Mr. Stone. Always Enjoying."

I place down my drink and lift Sofia's ornate mask from her head
" Hold This."
She takes it from me. "Why?"
"So I can see exactly where I am going to slap you."
                                                                                                                             -Beth

Book Review- My Light

Ella loved Braden for the year they’d been together, she'd missed him for the eleven months he’d been gone. She had to admit that her reaction upon seeing him again proved she wouldn’t stop loving him anytime soon.

Braden left Ella for many reasons, but not the ones she thought, especially not the lie he'd told her to keep her safe. Would she ever believe him after the way he'd hurt her?

When the truth is revealed, will they embrace their second chance? Or is it too late to reclaim the light they'd found in each other?

The bathroom door opened and he stepped out with no shirt, bare feet, and sweatpants hanging on his slim hips.

Holy God, the man was still drool-worthy.
Much like her control and willpower to resist him, her secret hope had vanished. He'd failed to earn a beer gut, or at least gain some flaw which would make him look less of an Adonis. Her cheeks flamed while she attempted – and failed – not to check him out from head to toe, with some fascinating stops in between.
Heat flooded her veins, followed by desire she'd stifled to a tiny spark while he’d been gone. Now it roared back to life as an inferno, ready to launch herself into his arms and consume him.
Ah, hell!
She. Should. Stop.
Staring at him like she wanted to eat him up, with all the images of a shared shower in her head, made it difficult to think. Her flustered, horny body wanted the one thing that could hurt her irreparably in the end. The hormones told her it would be worth it.
Her head said otherwise.
Braden gazed at her with eyes full of desire, and she knew hers reflected the same. He strode in her direction and stopped a few feet away. Ella swallowed hard. Her black leggings and light blue tank top were not even remotely sexy, but he stared down at her so intensely that she wanted to strip and let him feast on her.
That thought alone excited her above anything else.
One moment he stood too far away, and the next, he held the back of her neck and devoured her mouth. The shock wore off fast with every sweet move of his lips on hers. The kiss started gentle, but soon grew to dizzying proportions, making it difficult to think.
Not that thoughts were welcome.
She fought against the restraint her brain tried to enforce, and begged for more from him, pressed her breasts into his chest. Her pebbled nipples rubbing against his rock hard, half-naked body was a surreal, déjà-vu moment.
His hands roamed her new curves, not that he seemed to mind the changes – they left nothing untouched. When his a palm cupped her breast, she gasped into his mouth. She slid her hands around his waist. The feel of his flesh beneath her fingertips as she touched his chest and arms made her realize just how much she’d missed the skin on skin contact.
Braden slowed the kiss and trailed his lips down her neck while he licked and sucked small patches of skin into his mouth, his bite stinging but arousing.
He's branding me, making me his in a visible way.
That brief moment without his lips on hers lifted the fog on her mind enough for her to think. She wasn’t his by any means, and she knew what they were about to do. It all led to one thing and she wasn’t so weak as to let him do this to her again.
Anger rose as she recalled the past, the hurt she'd endured. The time that he’d been gone. Only to come back and what? Kiss her? Have sex with her? And then leave her again?
No. She shook her head. He wouldn't get away with things that easily. Who the hell does he think he is?
She pushed against Braden’s muscled chest, which got his attention. When he raised his chin, she slapped him so hard his head rolled to the side from the force of it.

From the beginning My Light introduces you to characters that you will fall in love with. Ella, a strong woman who is left brokenhearted when Braden finds it necessary to walk out of her life.
Close to a year passes by and for reasons of his own, Braden has to find a way back into Ella's life.
Secret's will be revealed and if they can get passed that, maybe they could just get there second chance at love. For My Light being a short story it had me smiling, feeling hurt and gripping my tablet a little to hard with anticipation. It left me wanting to read more about Braden and Ella. I also have to mention that this story has characters in it that you will want to know more about especially Drew, Braden's co-worker and friend. I am so happy I got a chance to read this book, it left me feeling giddy. I am crossing my fingers that this love story continues.

Hi! I'm Ani Bishop. I’m a married mother of two who lives in a small town. My life hasn't been easy, but it's been filled with family: three sisters, one brother, and a whole lot of cousins, aunts, uncles.
Reading has never been a chore for me, it's been a great passion. Writing, however, came afterward. Just a story in my head that needed to be told, and I wrote the first few words. Ever since I started, there was no stopping. Every day, every week, I've worked and written and had fun. Because writing is fun, if you love it.

Book Review- Controlling Interest

Controlling Interests: A Step-Brother Romance (The Legacy Series Book 2)

Submission is survival…

Sarah
Trapped. Seduced. Betrayed.

Submission is my greatest and only revenge.

To defeat my enemy, I need to survive until my twenty-first birthday. Once I inherit my family's secret trust, I'll finally destroy Darius Bennett and end my captivity, but vengeance comes at a cost. Nicholas Bennett demands a male heir to ensure my safety, and time is running out.

I fell hard for my step-brother, but loving the man is easier than trusting the Bennett. When the lies, secrets, and promises crash around us, I can’t hide the truth. My only choice is to save myself...

...Because I don’t know if anyone else will.

Nicholas
Devoted. Consumed. Lost.

I’m out of options, out of allies, out of time.

I want it all—my step-sister and her heir, the money and empires—and I’ll stop at nothing to ensure they’re mine. But saving the woman I love means either betraying her trust or losing the power that is my birthright.

How do I protect my family from Sarah Atwood, and how do I keep her safe from my father?

The answer? I can’t.

And the sacrifice will ruin us both.

Note: Controlling Interests is the second book of The Legacy Series and should be read after Takeover. This novel is a dark romance which will include themes of captivity, abuse, and sexual encounters with multiple partners. The story may be uncomfortable for certain readers. However, the series will feature a Happily Ever After and will not include themes of cheating/adultery.

My Review:
Controlling Interest had me squirming and sitting at the edge of my seat, every turn of a page had a secret to be told. Months into being held captive, ravished and beaten, Sarah had to rely on her step- brothers just to stay alive til her 21st birthday. For Sarah, she knew each brother played a part in her survival at the Bennet's estate. Nicholas- proclaimed her, Max- beat her, and Reed was her protector each one has a place in her heart. They understand that everything that they have to do, they do to protect each other and Sarah. The Love of Nicholas and Sarah is intensified, the abuse is magnified and the monster (their father) is more sadistic that could be imagined. Sarah is beaten down and not just physically, her father's secrets and the deaths of her brothers will destroy her.
Every plan Nicholas takes believing that he can protect Sarah, his brothers and bring down his father is always foreseen and destroyed by this monster.
They will fight hard to protect her but no matter what they do, they can never run or hide because he will always find her. Cliffhanger of all Cliffhangers that will leave you clawing for the third book Capital Risk.

*Highly adult suspense novel due to extreme sexual encounters*

Lana Grayson was born to write anything and everything to do with romance. Her favorite genres range from the dark and twisty to the lighthearted and sentimental—as long as the characters are memorable, the story is fun, and the romance is steamy. Book Review- TAKEOVER

Takeover: A Step-Brother Romance (The Legacy Series Book 1)

By Lana Grayson

Sarah
Kidnapped. Imprisoned. Ravished.

When tragedy stole my family, my father’s will mandated my future. I didn’t inherit Atwood Industries. I became the only one capable of protecting it.

Atwood Industries belongs only to a male heir, my heir. And my enemies—my own step-brothers—will stop at nothing to create a shared bloodline.

But they’ve made a mistake, and they’ll forever regret trying to control me.

Nicholas

Damned. Destroyed. Enthralled.

My family’s livelihood depended on acquiring the rival Atwood Industries and seizing the innocent woman bound within its terms of succession.

I never expected such a challenge from my step-sister.

I never thought I’d betray my own blood to protect her from the nightmare we began.

But if I don’t stop her, the woman I’m forbidden to love will sacrifice herself to tear apart my billion dollar empire...

Note: This novel is a dark romance which will include themes of captivity, abuse, and sexual encounters with multiple partners. The story may be uncomfortable for certain readers. However, the series will feature a Happily Ever After and will not include themes of cheating/adultery.

My Review:

Just trying to explain this book to someone feels wrong, so how am I to write a review without sounding a little twisted myself? Lana Grayson writes a story about three brothers kidnapping their step-sister, while having to rape, beat, keep her captive, and have to impregnate her ? The Bennet Brothers have to do all this to protect their company, each other and the one person they care about the most Sarah Atwood, their step-sister who in time could hold all the cards and destroy their billion dollar company. This story is so much about hatred and revenge between two family's The Atwoods and The Bennets and they will stop at nothing.
Sarah is the only family member left to protect her family's business, she is so strong, determined , impatient and sometimes just doesn't know when to keep her mouth shut. She will let her body be beaten and seduced just so she can see the one man she despises be destroyed.
Nicholas, the eldest of the three brothers who lives to protect the ones he loves and takeover his family's legacy. This is where my twisted mind comes into play, Sarah is his obsession but he has to allow her to go through all the torture that has been planned out in order to protect her and his brothers.
I wanted to hate him and his brothers with every being of my soul, but I like Sarah could not. I was bewitched by Nicholas and captivated by Max and Reed.

Book Review- Four Week Fiance`

“What would you do if the hottest man on earth wanted four weeks with you?”

My Review:
I read the prequel My Fake Fiance back in June and I have been waiting for the release of this book. I was hooked from the beginning. My attraction to Mila Brookstone is why I found this book so entertaining. Mila is funny, outgoing, and sexy as hell. Her smart banter with her best friend Sally and her brother Cody's bestfriend, TJ Walker who she has been in love with since she was a child  will keep a smile on your face.
What can I say about TJ Walker, his hotness steams off the pages. I love his humor but his love for control, women, and his sexcapades make him seem like a ass.
Mila and TJ's attraction was freaking HOT!!!
Four Week Fiance` is sexy and funny. It left me with so many people to be suspicious about.
TJ Walker's contract for Mila seems so shady and could only leave her with a broken heart.
The only downfall to this book is.... now I have to wait for the part two.

Book Review- Breaking All The Rules

**This book was previously published as INDULGENT PLEASURES - new cover and new title but otherwise, the story remains the same**

Stephanie Shaw is beyond desperate to gain her own column at San Francisco’s City magazine. Researching the hottest sexual fantasies of the young and single in the city sounds perfect. But she has one big problem: she has no one to put her extensive research to the test.

Sexy as sin former pro baseball superstar Justin “The Hawk” Hawkins values his privacy above all else. Recovering from a near fatal motorcycle accident that ended his career too soon, he’s laying low. He certainly didn’t expect to run into a gorgeous girl at a party—and proceed to have sex with her in a limo.

One taste and they can’t get enough. Soon they’re hooking up in all sorts of unusual places—and falling for each other. But Stephanie’s conflicted. Justin will hate her forever if he finds out she’s detailing their every sexual escapade in her anonymous column for all the city to read.

When the truth is revealed, will Justin be able to forgive Stephanie? Or will her deception tear them apart?

" Because they mean something, damn it. Because I'm halfway in love with him and I can't do this to what we have."

My Review:

This book caught my attention when I found out about the name change, my curiosity wanted to know which title reflected the storyline. The Synopsis also grabbed me. Stephanie Shaw a writer for her city's paper wants to have her own column. Her subject is sexual fantasies of the young and single. Her boss convinces her to throw herself out there and write about her own sexual escapades. Her eye is always on the prize...having her own column, but at what cost?
Stephanie never expected to run into a sexy young man at a party, who she later finds out he is  pro baseball star Justin Hawkins. Hawkins who has his own problems having to retire early due to a motorcycle accident and trying to figure out his life after baseball. A one night stand leads to it being documented for  the paper. Justin, unaware that their sexual tryst of the top sexual fantasy's have now been written weekly for every one to read. Of course their names have been changed in the stories and Stephanie was guaranteed that their names would stay anonymous. With a bitchy boss and a asshole for a coworker, who knows if her life would stay the same.
I really enjoyed this book, it was funny, touching at times and their sexual encounters were well written and very detailed. I did like the characters, I liked Justin a little more than Stephanie and  I found that I didn't want their story to end.

* I would rank this high in adult romance due to all the sexual content *

The Story of Us Trilogy Review

Charismatic and sexy Ayden Stone is a multi-talented media mogul by day and playboy by night, seducing and discarding women, seeking only sexual pleasure without commitment. He is looking for the love of his life, but is settling for stand-ins … then Fate intervenes.
A chance meeting with shy school teacher Elizabeth Parker triggers a passionate reaction in him that he cannot explain. Unable to help himself, he is drawn to her by a kind of gravitational force. Up close, he recognises her charm and beauty and is consumed by the idea that they have met before.
Unschooled in the art of seduction, Elizabeth begins her journey of sexual awakening, allowing Ayden to steer her towards deep and dangerous waters, unaware of their fateful connection.
With great passion comes heartbreak, threatening their relationship and testing its limits. A dangerous figure from Elizabeth’s past returns, desperate to take back what is 'his'.
Elizabeth Parker is about to be found, but will she be bound by her destiny or by her demon …
The Story of Us is an epic story of love, loss and redemption. A modern day fairy-tale full of passion, unspeakable secrets and suspense.

“We’ve started over, we’re creating our story, one chapter at a time. Our lives didn’t begin ’til the moment we met, so let’s stick to the story of us, Ok? Nothing you say will ever make me want you any less than I do right now.”

MY REVIEW:

TouchStone for Play
I am racking my brain on how to begin my review for this book. I have to be totally honest because I was taken to a whole new level of reading with this trilogy. With TouchStone for play I did not find myself drawn to the main characters at first. I found that the strong sexual chemistry between Elizabeth Parker and Adyen Stone was overpowering and I was not able to connect to them. The character I did fear was Elizabeth's starker Dan Rizler, his obsession took a hold of me that I did not want to turn the page and find out what his plans were for his precious Elizabeth. Jamesson's writing of just the way Rizler held a photo and his thoughts creeped me out. It wasn't until I was more than halfway through the story that I realized somewhere during my read that Ayden and Elizabeth's love captured me and I had to continue reading their journey.

TouchStone for Giving
I was a emotional mess with the second story of Elizabeth and Ayden, their sexual chemistry is still strong as ever and there love for each other is like the air that they breathe. Dan Rizler's obsession is increasing but now he has a silent partner Elise Richards, Ayden's childhood friend that wants to destroy Elizabeth and Ayden's relationship. The beginning of this story had me hyperventilating, crying and wanting to scream hoping someone could save Beth. The middle of the story had me crying like a fool when I thought something has finally come between them and the end had the same affect as the beginning but this time it was traumatic, I could feel the fear that Elizabeth is feeling when she comes face to face with her stalker and I could feel the anger and love that Ayden has when he watches his Beth at the hands of her monster. I have to stop here.... I might start crying.

TouchStone for Ever
This is where Sydney Jamesson's writing threw me for a loop, I was destroyed in the beginning. Let me say that I started the third story around 4 p.m. and could not finish the book til 6 a.m. I was determined to fall asleep knowing the end of  Ayden and Elizabeth's story.
As I said, I was destroyed in the beginning of the book. Almost to the point that I was going to give up and not finish reading the third part. I felt like I was being tested and taken to another dimension with Elizabeth's story. I thought I was having a Micheal or City of Angels moment and I could only watch those movies... One Time. I felt like a part of me was dying inside for Elizabeth. Even though the relationship of Ayden and Beth was written with Angelic moments, beautiful scenery and heartwrenching emotions. My heart could not stop searching and hoping for the love that is destined to be.
Elise Richards is a big part of this story that is held onto by Detective Mack Bowker, who will not give up until he finds out what part Dan, Elise, Elizabeth and Ayden have in each others lives. So this story has two parts one told by Elizabeth and the other told by Detective Mack Bowker.
All I have to say is that Story of Us series let me emotionally raw and to find out there is a continuation of Ayden and Elizabeth's story with Blue Genes  (The Story of Us series: Into the Blue). I am taking a little break to realign my emotions before I read Blue Genes.

 * I found this series to be in the high side of a erotic romance novel*
